This particular cask, already twenty-four years old, is a unique opportunity to acquire a wonderfully mature single-malt Speyside whisky.
As an alternative asset, we would recommend holding it for six years until it reaches 30 years old. Alternatively, it’s perfectly ready for bottling.
Founded in 1972, Auchroisk was built to supply the signature character (or ‘top dressing’) to hugely successful blends such as J&B Rare and Johnnie Walker. Purchased for £5million, the site for the distillery was chosen due to the exceptional source of soft offered by Dorie’s Well. By 1978, a single malt was already being produced in limited quantities. Auchroisk is situated in the heart of Speyside near the town of Rothes, and was in fact the first distillery to make use of the ‘cask finish’ with 10-year-old bourbon cask malt being matured for a further two years in sherry casks, but this ageing method was never promoted.
Tasting notes: Sweet and complex, with honey-roasted nuts, vanilla, mixed spice and a long finish.
